Subway now has more retail outlets than MacDonalds. "The company said some of its success was due to its private ownership. Subway was founded in 1965 and is not listed on any stock exchange" Do you think that Subways' company structure really has any affect on its success, or is it possibly a marketing gimmick? Does MacDonalds franchise structure have any impact on its success or otherwise? If legal structure is not the answer what do you think  is the reason for the sudden change in MacDonalds fortunes?

7/3/2011

In Anaheim in California students who regularly skip school are assigned a GPS tracking device to carry. The reasons are justified on a cost basis. Read all about it at http://www.ocregister.com/news/school-288730-students-program.html and comment whether:
a) It is a justifiable expense for the school - why/why not
b) Is it a reasonable cost - $18,000 - too much/ok/too little, why
c) Could the money be better spent elsewhere - if yes where? if no why is it a good use of funds?
d) Does it breach the students right to privacy - whose decision should it be?

A staff member in the office of the Liberal member, Victor Dominello, has asked to play computer games to pass the time while she deals with constituents.
Read the attached article and answer the following questions:
Is it ok to play games whilst being paid to talk to customers in a customer service role?
Is it fair to the people that are calling that they are not getting the full attention of the staff member involved? How would you feel if you knew that the person on the other end of the phone was not giving you their full attention, thought you were too boring to have long conversations with?
